Zuka
was an initial misnomer for our cat who appeared, ghost-like,
one foggy September evening. Darting out of the bushes and chasing
passers-by, he walked right into a local cafe and up to the
barista, bringing 50 people to momentary stunned silence ...
then laughter. A stray, we adopted him immediately, singing
"your name is Zuka" to calm him in the 20 mile ride
to Edmonds.
We
liked the name and did an internet search for ‘zuka’ and it
revealed that in Swahili, it means “to suddenly appear, as if
from nowhere.” The definition implies surprise, creation, mystery,
and wonder. It is in this same spirit that we bring ZuKafe to
the community of Edmonds, Washington.
